If you may remember, thought epidemics are contagious ideas, thoughts and behavior that use telepaths as vectors. 

In May of 2005, Lake Erie City was struck by a "musical plague" that saw the entire city singing and dancing for 3 weeks. Patient Zero was 28 year old Michael Barton, a telepath who couldn't get 'Off The Wall' off his brain which eventually resulted in a fully choreographed musical number in downtown LEC.
