Chapter 6: Sound & Color, Page 18: Toys & Games - Birthday Celebrations

Izzy kinda stopped doing these after her 8th birthday but in years past she's had pretty good days. On her 7th birthday she went to the aquarium. On her 6th birthday she went to the zoo. These days were always fun as far back as Izzy can remember.  But she wasn't really into the idea later on. There were attempts on her 9th and 10th birthdays but things kinda fell apart at the last minute both times and by the time she was 11 she didn't really care anymore. She broke away sooner than her sisters. Alicia did it until she was 14 and Abigail did it until she was 13.

It's not just the days out, Izzy doesn't celebrate her birthday at all anymore. She still keeps track but it's no longer something she makes a big deal of. She does mark the occasion in her own personal way though. She writes about it in her journal. Usually she makes a point about how glad she is to have made it another year. She's incredibly grateful for that year. But that's the most she makes of the occasion.

I think the only person who tries to do even less for her birthday is Sybil who intentionally lies about it to make sure no one else attempts to celebrate it either. The date she's given most often is February 29th.

Izzy would never do something like that though. Just not her style.
